Founding Concept

A circle, drawn by a compass, small or large, has an infinite number of points, lines, and tangents. Tea has a similar resonance: countless ways of drinking shaped by culture and traditions, tales and histories that were whispered through each cup and sip, and demands and supplies that once beckoned the trade of horses, wool, silver, gold, and precious herbs across mountains, plains, desert, and ocean. Tea is deeply interwoven in our collective memories and the memories of the lands.

Each year, with each vintage produced, what is presented in front of us is not only tea but also an embodiment of rainfall, humidity, temperature, terrain, and the painstaking care and craft of the farmers—the flavor of an ecosystem. As we search for these artisanal teas from China, we hope to share fragments of this infinite world of tea, to learn and journey with it like the center that initiates and anchors each circle.
